In order to promote the healthy and sustainable development of the biodiesel industry, the China Petroleum Chemical and Industry Federation Policy and Legal Work Committee announced that it has decided to establish a biodiesel industry working group.
Biodiesel refers to clean renewable liquid fuel for transportation produced from oil-based raw materials such as discarded animal and vegetable oils (abbreviated as waste oil) and non-edible grass/woody oils. It has the characteristics of high cetane number, non-toxicity, low sulfur, degradable, non-aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. It can be directly replaced or blended with petrochemical diesel, which can effectively improve the lubricity of petrochemical diesel and effectively reduce particulate matter, carbon monoxide and carbon of diesel engines. Pollutants such as hydrogen compounds are typically green, clean and low-carbon renewable energy sources.
The development of the biodiesel industry is of great significance for improving China’s air quality and ecological environment, ensuring food safety, effectively addressing the excessive discharge of diesel vehicles, preventing plateau ecological pollution, and promoting the development of energy agriculture and forestry.
China attaches great importance to the development of the biodiesel industry, “Proposal of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Formulating the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development”, “Renewable Resources Law of the People’s Republic of China”, “Renewable Energy Law of the People’s Republic of China”, Policies and regulations such as the National Biodiesel Industry Development Policy clearly encourage the development of biodiesel or biomass energy.
According to reports, the biodiesel industry working group will mainly focus on organizing the research and development of policies and regulations related to the biodiesel industry and the formulation of relevant national standards and group standards; organizing industry research to strengthen communication and coordination between biodiesel enterprises and refined oil production and sales enterprises. Organize research and exchanges in the biodiesel industry, solve common technical problems in the development of biodiesel industry, accelerate the transformation and application of scientific research results, and promote industrial progress and upgrading; accept commissioned by member units to organize research and consulting services on major issues related to biodiesel; Information and statistics work in the diesel industry, serving the development of the industry.
